Snapshot Updates

Snapshot of Trim Station - November 24, 2019

This snapshot update is the fifth in the series for Stage 2 LRT.

Over the course of the next several years, the O-Train Line 1 : Confederation Line will be extended eastward from Blair to Place d'Orleans and beyond to Trim. While construction at this station has not begun, this entry is a look at the present station and location, as well as a discussion of what is to come and where everything will be once construction is completed.

Looking westbound at Trim Station. The station will be located in the regional road 174 median.
Now looking eastbound.
More precisely, the station will be in the highway median, passing through the intersection.
As a result, the Trim road intersection will be moved further east (close to the beginning of the curve down to the river), and will connect North and South, with the road looping back.
The current Trim Park and Ride station. The station entrance will be situated just to the left of the shot, around the hydro poles, which have been modified (made higher) to allow the station construction and the pedestrian overpass.
Information panel on the hydro pole modifications.
Incidentally, on this date, there was a temporary closure of highway 174 eastbound between Jeanne d'Arc and Champlain, as highway signage was being removed / replaced, as part of early Stage 2 LRT work. Seen here is the old Place d'Orléans Drive signage being taken away to the city depot off of Trim Road.
Here is a preliminary map showing how Trim Road will be reconfigured to accommodate the O-Train Station. Notice how the station is located right in the middle of the Trim / 174 intersection, hence the reason for the intersection to be relocated further east, which also permits the construction of tail tracks.
