Are you around right now? I got a question about those release remote cables for night time photos. Have you used one before?

Is that cord sopposed to keep the shutter as long as you have it pressed down?

Mine only seems to take a photo no matter how long I hold it. I am wondering if I should get a better cord or if I am doing something wrong.

Oh yeah, it does lock too and it still does not hodl the shutter

I'm not sure which remote cord you got but you should be able to move the lock to lock position and press the button down and it should hold until you unlock it.

Cheers...Mike

Thanks Mike,

I guess I bought a really crapy one. It was from China on eBay. I'll get a better one.

I'm sure it uses the same cord for the old D70S, I thought they were around $50.00. You may find a Nikon real deal one on ebay....

Yes I think I see what you mean. I bought a $5 cord and it appears it was only meant to take a photo.

I just bought a more expensive one that allows you to set how much time and more in the remote.

OK, Here is my first night photo, I am still leaning but this camera makes it so easy and fun.

Neat shot Chris! Sorry for the late reply, what mode do you have you camera set on? Did you use bulb mode or manual?
