Great Western Railway's newest units are 575 and 563, both B40-8Ws from BNSF. A departure from the M420s that often require extra work to keep running; GWR will use these new units to run the longer runs. Rumour is that MLWs sold are to be 2002 and 2004, while the other three will remain in service.

These were in Moose Jaw when I photographed them. The expectation was to have them operational by Tuesday May 3, but I'm not sure they could get them going that fast. They should be painted in GWR paint by harvest season.

I saw one in Assinaboi yesterday, but the train through town here had the green engines.

It didn't appear that they had the exaust manifolds capped, so they'll need some work to get going again. I'm glad I caught the three operating M420s in Shaunavon because starting soon they'll be replaced by the GEs for that run.

Oh wow they are replacing them! I guess business is good.
I'll keep an eye every week for the trains to see when the new ones come into town.
